NSW HSC Mathematics Standard 2
Practice questions that are small enough to start.
Scatter Maths gives you short, exam-style practice without turning every spare moment into another lesson. Attempt the question first, then open only the help you need.
What you can practise
The current question mix covers financial mathematics, ratios and rates, algebra and relationships, measurement and trigonometry, statistical analysis, and networks.
- Questions designed for a two-to-five-minute attempt
- Marks and approximate time shown before you begin
- Progressive hints rather than an immediate answer
- Calculator or mental steps where they are useful
- A worked answer after you have attempted the method
A short Standard 2 example
Example question
A jacket priced at $240 is reduced by 15%. What is the sale price?
- Hint 1A 15% reduction means you pay 85% of the original price.
- Hint 2Write the calculation as 240 × 0.85.
- Hint 3Use your calculator to evaluate the multiplication.
Show the worked answer
$240 × 0.85 = $204, so the sale price is $204.
How to use practice well
Try the question before opening help. If you are stuck, reveal one hint and attempt the next step yourself. In an exam, write the mathematical set-up even when you use a calculator, because correct working can earn marks.
